Glory To Enlightenment

My next novel entitled THE ILLUMINATI.

Actually I'm on page 10 right now still trying to discover more facts and imagine the least expected and less traveled pathways to the unknown.

What ILLUMINATI really means? Who are they? To know them is to love them actually in the real sense of ENLIGHTENMENT

BOOK CHAT Chapter 10 - The Concept

For the past 12 months the business is really doing great. Veronica's husband was not heard arguing with her after that. But one thing she noticed and has observed; the bookstore is becoming a commode for rumors and nasty gossip.

Veronica needs to divert the business into something productive, more meaningful and most of all profitable. Instead of having the customers stayed for long hours chatting at the bookstore she needs to plan something in advance. She doesn't want to drive her true loyal clients away from her establishment.

Once again she shut down the bookstore and applied license for a small restaurant beside her former store. At least this time those frequent buyers, customers and loyal clients can chat all day long if they want to at the other room designed for eating and chatting. At least while they chat they can order a meal or two. Food essential for growth are available on a steamed table. In this new venture Veronica would be able to hire at least 4 workers. Not bad right? Not that bad for small business advocates.

A concept that she planned long time ago hoping it would be more interesting for her family and the loyal friends of the Book Chat. Simple concept that is.

The Bookstore is dedicated for those who have certain fondness of the love for books and reading. Besides the bookstore has 2 computer booths as a facility for quiet researcher or students who would like to do their research project or study. A quiet, calm atmosphere for the studious while the happy go lucky individuals can be segregated in the fast food area. Segregation area for the chatty and bubbly group. Even her own teenagers bring their friends at the fast food for dining.

The new concept has brought happy moments, sad moments, meeting old faces, new faces, familiar and unfamiliar people, strange, obnoxious, you name it the place became a place to chill.

There are too many stories relating to her Book Chat of course only the most unforgettable are still intact in her memories though.

Just like this story: Veronica saw an old woman walking her puppy outside. The puppy barked so much that she was having a hard time controlling the leash on its neck. Her pet has created so much trouble hard to deny.

"Arf! Arf! Arf!," barked the loud puppy. As it barked continuously as if there's no tomorrow.

Seeing the old woman and her noisy dog made Veronica unhappy. Even if the door and window is double pane glass she can hear the sound of the bark outside. It's totally annoying. If she could only cover her ears or ask the woman to move quietly away from the site.

Then suddenly the old woman came in to her store. Alas! the dog stopped barking. But her pet looks tired, restless and agitated. It must be hot outside and the air conditioning inside the Book Chat has helped him pacified.

Veronica: Hello there poor puppy. How come you barked so much?

Old Woman: I think puggy is very tired and needs to drink.

Veronica: Oh I see. You're puppy needs water then ( Veronica offered a bowl of fresh water to drink taken from the tap. She touched the puppy on its face and asked why her pet's face looked a bit different). Isn't he cute? The puppy's face is wrinkled and its nose pushed in and ... and your pet is stocky and chubby.

Old Woman: It's a pug! That's why I named him Puggy!!

The old grouchy grumpy woman moved to the Fast Food area and mumbled, " I'd better feed my pug or he'll leave me with another master!"

Veronica's smile turned into uncontrollable laughter. She thought the old woman and her pug are awesome duo.

BOOK CHAT Chapter 9 - The Reaction

The following days were hectic. Very busy days mostly because the news had created so much curiousity.

Then on this particular day when Veronica opened her door she noticed that the delivery man left the newspapers on the pavement of the business establishment. That never happened before. The local newspaper guy usually brings the paper inside the store. Anyway, she shrugged her shoulder and thought to herself maybe the newspaper company has replaced the guy named Mr. Scotland.

She took the bundles of newspapers inside and put them beside the magazine rack. When she glanced at the front page, the story of the brawl was written there. Somehow some stories were exaggerated. She was furious and sad. She called her husband right away to inform what she read.

"How could they'd be so stupid!?" remarked Veronica while tears flowing down her cheeks.

She also phoned the newspaper editor and told her about the news that she read. This is what she heard from the editor --

"Madam, I think it's a good publicity for you and the bookstore!" the editor insisted that front page news requires a bit of controversial issue." "Besides its to your advantage. "We didn't see anything wrong with it."

Veronica slammed the phone fuming mad. When she got hold of her husband she got the same reaction. He really wants to sell the business.

As if she didn't hear what George has said, she just continued to keep on with her work. It's her work not his. Hours passed by and suddenly people keep coming in to her bookstore. Some of them staring at Veronica, secretly. Others are browsing on pocketbooks but you can hear the whispers and mumbling. A very curious nosy girl came right after her

Girl: Madam, I'm Emilia and I read the news today. You are very courageous. I'm so glad that you were able to defend yourself from those bad guys. Those dirty rotten rascals!

Veronica: (With a sweet smile on her face she quickly replied to her) Fortunately it is of my best interest to defend myself and my business and whatever that rightly belongs to me.

Emelia: Madam, can I have your signature please? I mean autograph?

Emelia opened her notebook and Veronica signed it nicely. Veronica thought it was silly to sign it but it was a matter of importance for that little girl. Later Emelia was seen buying an Earth Science textbook. She wants Veronica to sign it too. Without hesitation she obliged upon her sweet smiling request. Veronica loves Earth Science too. It's was a subject in High School that she loves. Emelia was overjoyed and after saying "thank you" she left the store together with her mother.

Many customers had their share of buying and purchasing ordinary books, textbooks, souvenir items just to have a glimpse of her. Some are nosy asking her some naughty questions while others keep their inquiries to themselves.

BOOK CHAT Chapter 8 - The Brawl

Veronica was still thinking of the mysterious couple when group of youngsters entered her bookstore. They were chatting, laughing out loud. When they reached the aisle they got hold of several books that they rudely opened pages by pages by stealth or by force. Until few pages were torn apart from the books.

The outrageous situation is very alarming but somehow Veronica manage to keep in control. She asked the bad boys to get out from the business establishment or she's gonna call the police.

The problem is the youngsters, the dirty rascals cannot take heed of the warning and still continued to provoke her. Then one of the bad guys started throwing pocketbooks hitting the light fixtures on the wall and on the ceiling. The eight juvenile delinquents chuckled like crazy hyenas.

Outraged and furious, Veronica grabbed the baseball bat that Ceejay left behind the counter. Aiming the sturdy bat at one of the rascals, " Okay mess up my bookstore again and I will hit you with this bat!"

Imagine after the renovation, the amount of money that's been used to make her business more profitable and it will all end up like this. Veronica have to do something tactically. Beneath the counter was the red button hidden from anyone. She quickly pressed the button and that signals for the police to arrive without the hoodlums knowing it.

However one of the bad guys approached her with a paring knife on his hand and that made Veronica rushed to defend herself by hitting the guy with a baseball bat on his leg. Seeing the pain and agony that one of their gang member has endured, the rascals run as fast as they could leaving the battered bad guy behind. The police came almost too late, although the 7 bad guys escaped but was able to apprehended one of the gang member.

After too many inquiries and interrogation the police took the bad guy and sent in the slammer (jail). More interrogations followed. The police took the video tape from the hidden camera wherein the non-stop action was captured. They want to have it as an evidence.

The next day the bookstore was closed for cleaning and re-organization once again. Veronica's family was happy and a bit sad. Two contrasting feelings of happiness because the expose' showed how their Mom has battled and won against the bad guys but then they are unhappy because they don't like the news that it will create.

And it did create and stir the news in the local newspaper. Even George was saying that it's privacy is what he needs right now. He suggested to Veronica that it's better to sell the bookstore than have all the hassles and unnecessary conflict it has created. They don't need the publicity.

BOOK CHAT Chapter 7 - The Book

The Book Chat opens at a very early morning. Earlier than usual. Veronica has the unusual energy to look after her bookstore which is of course a good thing. For the past three hours she had about 15 customers and ten of them bought "new arrival" books from the counter. How happy she is can prominently seen from her radiant smile.

She's about to take a good rest behind the counter when a young couple arrived. She welcomed the couple with a pleasing word " Hello!" The couple just said hello also and continued browsing through the narrow aisle where shelves of books are located.

Veronica let them have more time to find what they are looking for before she asked them what they really want or what they are in search of. That's showing politeness. Giving customers the chance to view and see first then if they really want something they will ask and that's how to offer your help or support.

One thing that really get the customers pissed off is when sales clerks followed customers like as if they are like dogs haunting and hunting them for something. Being courteous is what every individual needs in times of buying and selling. Never ever be rude to your clients for you never really know what's the purpose why they were there in the first place. Although being alert as a clerk is still an option. The clerk or sales person's duty is to sell products. You are not selling yourself. That's the main goal. SELL THE PRODUCT NOT YOURSELF.

Later, the young couple seemed tired in their search. They approached Veronica.

Veronica: May I help you?

The Couple (Man): We're looking for the latest book about Merlin and King Arthur. Any story about those two characters would be of help to my kid's term paper in school.

Veronica: There are several books about Merlin and King Arthur. Hollywood even made so many movies about them. Since you are looking for the "latest" I would suggest a book written by Jane Yolen. The story is not even been heard or touch by the movie sectors. So I think this is something new.

Woman: Really? What book is that?

Veronica: The book is entitled " The Sword Of The Rightful King." In this book the characters are depicted vividly and more enchanting roles for Merlin.

The Couple: Great! That's what we really want for my kids.

The Couple purchased four books with the same title. Veronica mumbled a bit. She was surprised why they are getting four books instead of one. She doesn't want being nosy. If they want four books then they can have it. The couple paid the books urgently. Just as Veronica gave them the receipt the couple said goodbye. They were in a hurry. She wonder why. What she noticed when the couple left the bookstore, there was a $50.00 bill inside the tip jar.

"Oh my God!" "Is that a joke? " They gave me $50 for a tip?" Veronica was a bit surprised. Actually more than surprised. It was shocking. They are probably super rich and tipping that big amount of money is sort of nothing to them.

Anyway Veronica knew that their kids will surely enjoy reading a good stunning, smart and mysterious novel written by Jane Yolen.

BOOK CHAT Chapter 6 What's In A Name

Frightened about the mysterious man, Veronica related the story to her family. They were having dinner when she told it to them. At first they don't believed Veronica until she had shown the business card.

When Veronica's husband saw the card, George could only muttered, " that guy is probably a mystery shopper."

Veronica: Mystery shopper!? In my bookstore? Don't you think he should visit grocery stores or supermarkets and department stores?

One of the triplets grabbed the business card from her Dad, "Yikkess!" as she shrieked when she reads what's on the card.

"What's on the card? What it says?" Ceejay asked Teejay.

"Oh nothing much! The name says it all I think, " recounted Teejay.

Ceejay thought there is something more to it that he asked the business card to see it for himself. When he had his turn to read the name he could only wonder why his name is weird.

Firelli one of the triplets finally got hold of the business card and blurted, " Is he from Greece?" He must be Greek! His mother named him after a Greek mythological character?

Probably is for his name is a well distinguished very prominent name. Who wont recognize Zeus? Do you know Zeus?

Yes the man is named after the Olympian god Zeus! The mysterious man is named after Zeus. He is Dr. Zeus Ulysses - with a Phd. Doctor of Philosophy and Theology.

The kids asked their Mom to describe the man. Veronica could only remember him as a man who resembles that of the leading actor in "Lawrence of Arabia."

"That guy?"" You mean Omar Shariff?" Firelli grinned with much enthusiasm then laughed and told his Mom that there's probably a mix of culture in her story.

Well what's wrong with a Greek name and an Arabic face? Only in movies! Only in the silver screen you can mix names and blend them into another distinct culture and ethnic background. It can happen. That's what multicultural diversity is. You have a Filipina in a movie representing a Chinese community because that Filipina looks more like Chinese when it comes to facial feature and skin color. Or a Filipina that looks like a Japanese. Almost anything can happen.

Veronica also informed them, "By the way, the mysterious man said he's from the Vatican in Rome!"

BOOK CHAT Chapter 5 - Mystery

A middle aged man entered the bookstore. A very strange man with a very prominent feature. Tall, dark and handsome! He's probably an actor, lawyer, or a military guy. He's not fat either. he's probably a health-buff metro retro guy.

Veronica: Good morning sir may I help you?

Man: Good morning! (He proceeded to the right hand shelves and cabinets looking for something. He was there browsing for over 4 minutes. Then finally he approached Veronica).

Veronica: Is there something in particular that you need from this store sir?

Man: Do you have the book entitled "The Clergy?"

Veronica: I'm sorry sir but we don't have it . The book is not in circulation yet.

Man: How come? What's wrong? Do you have any information about it? (with much curiousity)

Veronica: Based from what I heard "The Clergy" the novel has created so much controversy. It was a book full of heresy. You know those heretic opinions that are contrary to commonly accepted doctrines.

Man: Err...do you believe such hearsay when in fact you haven't read the book yet?

Veronica: I would like to read the book yes, before I assumed anything or have my opinions counted. Just as what I said before is based on what I heard not what I read from the book.

Man: (Smiling) That's great! Writers do write because they expect their readers to comment or know what they feel about their books. Also to feel their "pulse." Its the reader's opinion that matters. Whether the remarks are of negative and positive. Every criticism they get is of value to them. If the result is positive then surely they are more than happy to oblige with the reader's point of view. If the result is negative then the writers strive harder and take chances on every opportunity.

Veronica: Are you a writer, sir?

Man: I am an opinion seeker (in his stern voice)

Veronica: (Its not what Veronica expect for an answer)

Man: Since you don't have that book in this store, can I leave you my business card? Call me when you have it okay?

Veronica: Okay no problem sir. (When Veronica got hold of the business card, reading it in disbelief and intense curiousity .... then when she glanced at the man ------

Veronica: Where is he?

All of a sudden the mysterious man vanished! Veronica was unmoved at first. She thought she was a victim of a notorious prankster. She didn't even hear the door opens or the man get out of the door. Suddenly she had goosebumps on her arms.

Nervously she opened the entrance door, looked outside. Everything seemed normal outside. The weather is fine, not cloudy or anything. It was bright as daylight. So what's goin' on?

BOOK CHAT Chapter 4 - What A Book Chat Really Means?

Additional features were added in the bookstore: Coffee table for the coffee maker and cappuccino and fresh baked cookies and muffins as refreshments. Vending machines for soft drinks.

What else is new? She had the book store's name changed to "BOOK CHAT."

However, before she had the name replaced, Veronica went to visit her grandma at the cemetery to offer a fervent prayer. She lit a sweet scented candle on the tombstone and asked permission. Before she left the site she laid a bouquet of fresh red roses beside the epitaph and made the sign of the cross.

After three months of optimistic positive reinforcement there was an absolute change. More than what the family would expect!

Veronica opened an internet website based on her business about books. In this book chat the chatters can log in and allowed to chat about their favorite books just to spark their knowledge in what they read. Also the basis of comparison in the kind of books they are reading. It is a fun educational enlivening and enlightening the group. Yes it is somewhat a group study. It tackles the part and pages of the book without telling the whole story just as to spark curiousity. What they like about the book. What makes it special? What are the values they derived from reading the story? Who are the characters and what kind of character they portrayed? Is there a moral lesson? Their own opinion about the title, hero or heroine, the villains and many other questionnaires to keep the readers entertained and informed intellectually.

What books cited wonderful quotations and passages that are unforgettable? Did you learn something from reading that particular book? Have you learned any new vocabulary word that you wont forget because its mindboggling and spellbounding or totally hilarious?

I know of somebody who for some reasons unknown to me laughed hilariously at the sound of "terible!" It's a spanish word meaning terrible.

Having visual aids is a must also. In a book chat several readers love looking at the many visual aids or illustrations inside the pages of the book. Visual aids are absolutely a plus for those young readers. For those who are starting to read. It helps.

All the above topic will surely enable the readers and chatters to concentrate or focus their attention on the main idea not to get lost or out of focus.

How many times I read books wherein the real story get out of hand. The title doesn't comprehend or match with the story inside. The adjectives are way to many as in over dressed. It must be cold in there inside the book. Like some authors have to describe the characters in more than five pages. What if they have ten characters then each one is described in five pages? You call that wasting the paper and ink. The author must be very rich.

BOOK CHAT Chapter 3 - The Renovation

The Book store hardly ever make $100.00 a day! Whew big problem. Veronica was in constant search for new idea. Innovative ideas. What she needs to do? What she needs to adjust or change if there's any? She was sleepless for almost a week. Just weeks not months. Her husband George couldn't help at first. He knew there is something bothering her but afraid to ask.

The truth is Veronica doesn't want George to know the problem about the store. It was her business not George's. her husband has its own job to take care of, to settle and concentrate on. George is a carpenter - contractor for realty companies in their community.

George told her maybe it needs a new name. Finally George learned the problem. He's not stupid. He can perceive someone else's mind. Not that he's got ESP. He's just used to studying "learned behavior."

Maybe new paint on the wall, new shelves, new design and style for the interior part of the wall. And ...maybe a widely acceptable advertisement.

Veronica doesn't want any change on its name. The book store doesn't need a new name. It was named after her grandma. I don't like my grandmother being upset.

"For God sake! Your grandma is already dead for so many years!" George couldn't help but yelled at her in disgust.

Veronica not only is superstitious but also believes in roaming and restless spirit.

Somehow she was eluded to have the store closed for 7 days so that they can renovate and start anew.

The change would be from the ceiling down to the floor.

Renovations:

Paint the ceiling

Paint the wall - navy blue with deep space design of the milky way, the sun and the 9 planets and a space ship

Change the flooring either carpet or hard wood (parquet), or tiles?

Lighting fixtures

Hmm that could be it! Great idea. The display on the wall is a great astounding attraction for the kids and adult.

After a week of renovation and cleaning they have it advertised in the leading newspaper in town and into the internet. The phone never stops ringing asking if they have books and textbooks that they need in schools.

Also the teenage kids suggested a marathon of storytellers guesting at the bookstore where parents can bring their children ages 4 to 10 to listen and hear the storytelling rituals every afternoon at 1:00 pm up to 2:30 pm. Only on Saturday. Then every month the store features famous or non famous author or authors who would like to launch their new book or literary work of art. Thereby they can also sign the book they had written.

Photo session with the author covers extra charge. With all these special innovative idea would help the book store more than it would help the writers. Somehow it work both ways. They do need each other to survive.

Don't you think?

BOOK CHAT Chapter 2 - The Problem

Veronica's teenage kids frequently stand by the store and have fun reading fantasy novels esp. the Harry Potter, Twilight, Marvel Hero comics and a lot more to choose from.

In the first 6 months of taking over the Book store there's really nothing much of an action. Actually it was kind of boring.

"Boringgggggg!" as one of the kids exclaimed every once in a while.

It's too slow they said. And a lot more of helluviah of complaints.

Veronica thought it's only 6 months of being the owner of that small business establishment but the rent for that small place is already a burden. Way too much. Everything in the store is valued half a million dollars to be exact. The rent is killing them. $1,000 per month is suffocating! Plus the electric bill ($150), telephone bills ($ 50.00), internet ($100) with a total of $1,300/month. That's the regular bill and other miscellaneous bill is not included.

The book store is open 6 days a week from 8 am to 5 pm. On busy days the bookstore is making at least $100/day. If somehow the store comes up with a "regular income" (Y) of $100/day then the total income of the store is about $2,400.00/month. Then $1,100 (Y) is derived from that store per month. Great! That only pays for the owner's effort or whoever manages the business. The store cannot and wont be able to afford another clerk in that business. Sure is that's why it's a family business only. That's what it is intended for.

You wont believe that this kind of business report is more common than usual in the present generation today. This situation happens not only in bookstore or internet cafe but also in some convenience stores or small burger joints elsewhere. Maybe sign of times. Lots of competitions or plainly there is so called recession. Almost every one is affected.

Book Chat Chapter 1 - The Bookstore

Novel : Veronica's Book Chat
Author: E Verna Turner

The story revolves and evolves around Veronica Turner. She inherited a bookstore formerly owned by her grandmother. The bookstore is located in the Shopper's row close to the bus station. Her grandma was a very friendly woman. She had lots of friends who frequently stopped by and had a book or two and a refreshment in her store. They are the loyal customers of Veronica nowadays.

The book store offers new and old books, textbooks, pocketbooks, vintage books, atlas, dictionary, encyclopedia, small books, even big books. Books of all kinds, shape, sizes and color and also books in denominations. Aside from library of books the store offer marvel comics, new and classic, souvenir stuff, post cards, posters and educational items.

There are lounge area - sectional sofa where you can sit and relax to read the books you love to read. You have to rent the books though. Because it's a book store not a library.

Two desks with computer machine and printer on it. Private booths if the customer wants to have privacy in reading or researching. Those extra additional features for the business. Veronica thought that could help attract more readers and clients to her store.

Her own teenage kids helped in the store as clerks. This store is where her kids derived their allowance for their schooling. Not a bad idea. Actually such a good one. Teach them the value of money by having them have an "occupation" at a very young age.

If you're asked the difference about a job and an occupation just tell them job is part time and it's an "odd" and having an occupation is "life time" as in being "occupied all the time."

Introduction To My Third Novel

SPRINGTIME is when we start hearing the chirping of the chikadees in a loud monotone. The round robins of the blue jays and the cardinals. Not to forget the seagulls, the crows and the raven. What about the penguins? Ah, they can manage to stay in the arctic, to the north and south pole!

The dawn is breaking early morn as the early bird catches the worm.

Springtime is when the gentle breeze passes through the region like a crispy breath of fresh cool air. Dainty buds of sweet scented flowers started to spring its buds and blossoms. Bulbs of gladiola, irises, lilies and tulips underneath the ground and their green spade leaves would like to have a glimpse of the rays of light.

Noteworthy are the many lime green grass on the frontier. Probably next two weeks in time to cultivate the backyard and have it ready for vegetation.

Springtime is when it's time for spring cleaning. Cleaning the house inside out, pressure washing the windows outside, balcony or terrace and patio. This work is done by professionals and should be done religiously and should be once a year.

It was at springtime when Veronica received the inheritance --- thousands of books and a bookstore from her beloved grandmother.

What to do with books? So many books, so little time!

Chapter 23 - Memoirs of Friendship

"What a hill-billy voice.Yucky!" Joan was heard with her bullying voice.

"Okay, hear me sing Joan," and Arnel had his Mambo songs for everyone to listen to and the rest of the guys joined in singing Mambo number 5.

Mel and the pilot had couple of jokes to keep the women more relax and not to mention about what Joan had seen a while ago. It would frighten them too if they started getting nervous and afraid.

On their last day at Mato Grosso, bunch of reptiles appeared outside the hut. To their excitement the reptiles keep changing their colors. All of them were lucky to have seen the transformation of colors of these reptilians. Their skin are somewhat getting smoother not scaly and they noticed that the reptiles were all looking upward. What are they looking up?

"Shhh..." don't make any noise Gardo warned everyone.

"Amazing! This is totally insane! How could they change their colors so rapidly. This could be just magic, "Joan told the girls in disbelief even if her eyes are wide open.

Jeaneth whispered to them that they are probably not gecko but chameleons. Only chameleons can change its skin to a different color or camoufladge itself by the environment they are in.

Joan tried to grab one of the colorful chameleons from its group. Out of too many she had chosen the orange reptilian that keep changing to blue and red colors, and green . When her hand touched the creepy creature she got the shock of her life. She was electrocuted!

Loud screaming, thunder and lightning occured instantly. She was in a coma for so many years until ------

Then on her 87th birthday, the three old women surprised her with a gift.

The three women moved Joan to her old bedroom and they all opened the box of gift. As they unwrapped the wrappers one by one until the bell jar appears and in it --

The most beautiful stunning creature that Joan wants to touch > the enigmatic chameleon! This chameleon brought a smile on her lips, tears started flowing on her cheeks. All the four old women touched the chameleon once again, together ....

Chanting the latin scriptures they've learned long time ago, a strong high voltage energy was released like solar flares hitting the core. A gigantic halo appeared and the prism was released.

As they lay dying on the floor, out of breath, the enchanted chameleon grew its magical wings and grabbed the four old women on her wide accomodating wings.

They travelled in a very dark alley through the dark wormhole passing through the milky way. The chameleon dragonaire has landed safely back on the mysterious crop circle.

Four little girls appeared at the center of the circle, running around, holding hands, giggling and laughing, singing -----

((( Ring a ring of rosie, pocket full of pose, ashes, ashes, we all fall down ))))

((( Ring a ring of rosee, pocket full of posee, asses, asses, we all fall down )))))

((( Ring a ring of rosy, bucket full of pose, ashes, ashes, we all fall down )))))))

RETURN TO INNOCENCE AGAIN.

Chapter 22 - Memoirs Of Friendship

It must be the hot humid weather that all of them had an afternoon nap. Gardo and Arnel were snoring heavily. Gheez those men are noisy. Did you know that heavy weight individuals have problem breathing while asleep? They do have snore-ing problem.

The women had their own space inside the hut. They too have their mosquito nets. They should for they hate creepy crawlers. They have seen a lot of them while they were out in the forest recording their experiments.

While in the middle of their sleep, Joan woke up urgently. She thought she heard a very strange noise. It can't be the chirping birds. No it's not the snoring sound from the guys. It is unusual. It is creepy and it is her first time to hear that kind of peculiar noise and she cannot pin point where its coming from. She looked around but cannot find what she's after nor there's no movement after the last noise made by that unknown creature. She looked at Jeaneth and Janice who are sleeping peacefully.

"Hmmm...maybe just an annoying insects somewhere, " assuring herself that the sound she heard is just nothing but a figment of her imagination she went back to sleep. Once again she covered herself with mosquito net.

Hissssssss shhhhhhh hissssss swhsihhhhhh )))))))) the sound becomes evident once again. Joan woke up and find the hissing sound.

"Oh my God!! " Right there up on the ceiling is a long slender scaly creature with its wide mouth open and a long strand of stringlike tongue is about to touch her face.

"Ah ------------" Joan couldn't say any word. She was speechless.

It was her first time to see a very strange mysterious creature like that. Never before seen by her. Even the whole crew haven't seen that yet. She tried to grab her boots right immediately. In a moment of adrenaline rush she hit the reptilian. The creature run as fast as he could. The boot that was thrown upward fall on the floor creating noise and woke up everybody.

"What's happening?" Janice asked her.

Still weary and sleepy, Gardo and Arnel and Mel were questioning everyone and hurriedly grabbed their daggers and AK 47, and handy guns as they 're ready for action.

"Are you okay?" Arnel asked Joan.

"Yeah, I'm okay. I first thought I have seen a reptilian creature up on the ceiling. It was long and slender! Scaly and scary. Then I run towards outside and followed it outside then suddenly hundreds of kachina holding sharpened arrows and torches of fire on their left hands. " Joan continued her story, " then when all of you rushed out here they all vanished."

Gardo: Are you sure you have seen them? I mean the kachina?

Joan: Yes. You think I'm lying?

Jeaneth: Maybe you're having a dream? Or perhaps having hallucination?

Janice: Ya, maybe you are just exhausted and over fatigued from all the work here. Let's all go back inside the hut.

Gardo brewed hot coffee for the group. Mel and Arnel told the girls to relax. The two guys continued the recording of the wind speed by the hour, also the humidity and temperature by the hour.

After dinner, the guys built a bonfire outside to keep them warm. It was cooler at this time of the night. Gardo brought his guitar and started entertaining them with his mellow touch voice and sang, ((( Country road take me home, to the place where I belong West Virginia, Mountain Mama, take me home )))

Chapter 21 - Memoirs Of Friendship

Two straight days of Joan's experiment with the weather were proven to be a success. The next day Joan had her anemometer and wind vane focused on the direction where she could get an extra weather recording of the wind speed and direction.

No inclement weather! perfect! The guys tried and tested the water at the lagoon. Tired of watching and guarding the 3 women they decided to climb up to the cliff and from there dive down through the cascading water falls. Gardo and Mel yelled at the women to join them. When the women saw how happy they were swimming in butterfly strokes, they joined the guys.

Joan: Oh my goodness! The water is sparkling clear and amazingly very warm. Almost like a hot spring!!

Janice: I know. I love every moment being in here. It's almost like paradise.

Jeaneth: This is a grand vacation that could only happen once in a life time. I'm glad you invited me here Joan.

Gardo: Better enjoy the moment guys or you'll gonna miss it after.

Gardo and Mel caught some fresh fish further away from the lagoon. They all shared the barbecued fish andsteamed gallang (almost similar to taro root) and sweet bananas. they also tried tasting the dozen pomegranates on the table.

After lunch they hang their hammocks and covered themselves with mosquito nets. They're careful not to be bitten by tse tse fly, mosquitoes and other harmful insects in the forest.

Memoirs Of Friendship - Chapter 20

The majestic view of the forest, the waterfalls, the colorful exotic creatures never seen before by their naked eyes were captured by the video camera and handheld digital cameras. Joan had so much fun recording, video taping the area. Thousands of pictures! That's gross! Or tons to name all those creatures would take time and space. From the native plants, animals, and insects. Careful observations were recorded and classified accordingly. The girls especially Jeaneth helped her with the classification process. That's her job. She had some test done on particular unusual plant named as carnauba palm tree. She's into dermatology and the texture of that exotic plant caught her attention. Carnauba palm has special kind of leaves. These leaves are always fresh and shiny as if there is thin film of wax in it. The smooth texture of this leaves > waxy film , according to the book is being used today in the manufacturing of wax, lipstick, lipshiner, floor wax, candle. She thought there could be another subtance in it that could be used for the negatives, cellophane, and most importantly for medicinal purpose. That they can extract a subtance from it to be used as topical solution in the form of cream and ointment. Maybe she can discover a new cortisone cream she told the girls.

As Jeaneth moved on to the next phase, she had seen so much weeds: horseweed, jimsonweed which she tried to avoid. Then pink lady's slippers are common, lots of fern, hepatica and violets. There are small to giant yuca roots, cassava roots where they used the roots for tapioca.

Janice had seen several insects from spider to soldier ants and armadillo. Armadillo? They never expect to see one so they grabbed their camera and captured a nice shot almost great for a front cover of a magazine. They exclaimed cheerfully wonderin' and wandering more through the depths of the woods.

What else they could find and discover surely would be enough for their research. However they expect some more strange unusual happenings..... unexpectedly.

Memoirs Of Friendship - Chapter 19

On the fourth day of their stay in Brazil, Joan asked the girls they have to get ready for a domestic flight via Mato Grosso. Mato grosso is known for its wild Great Forest. Through their reference travel book, map and guide Mato Grosso is popular among hunters and miners for gold. It is located in the western plateau. There was a story that area was once restricted to anybody, foreign or nationals and if ever you want to venture out there then you will need to be protected and armed.

Mato Grosso was once a native indian village. A dangerous place for some kind of adventure. It is well guarded probably because of its treasure that brings abundance of wealth in the form of gold and diamond. It was once known as the "gold rush area." They don't know or sure whether it's still is golden there. What's the rush the girls thought was the baseball and soccer games those people would like to get in through the channels. Springtime is a time when there's so much rushing hereto and there. Just like wild flowers wanting to spring out from the soil to get a glimpse of the mighty sun.

Joan informed the girls about the area before hand. They had a lot of informations and briefing was done accordingly. They are not stupid they know what they are up to.

As their small plane glides at the amazonian jungle deep down through the forest of mato grosso the climate has turned perfectly alright. Joan was happy and thought her experiment will yield fruitful. She is expecting only the best of the very best outcome.

Jenny and her baby stayed with her mom in Rio. Gardo and Arnel went with Jeaneth, Janice, Joan, plus their pilot and the tour guide who is a martial arts expert, a sniper named Mel Weatherlee. This expedition is one of a kind. It's more like expect the unexpected even if Joan knows some people back in Canada are already second-guessing about the result in advance.

The expedition crew managed to stay in one of the villages in Mato Grosso. It's not bad from what they heard. The native hut they were staying is close to the waterfalls. The cascading water proved like a music to Joan's ears but not for the men in their group. Multitude of birds humming everywhere. They have seen macaws and mynah.

"If I could only bring one of those macaws at home, " Jeaneth whispered to Janice.

"Maybe we could. But I think you have to pay extra at the custom."

Joan have all her apparatus ready for her experiment. Initial experiment in the middle of the great forest. She had the following equipments and materials: weather recorder, thermometer (to measure hot and cold temperature), barometer (monitors air pressure), anemometer ( measure the windspeed), hygrometer(to measure moisture), wind vane (measure wind direction), weather station, pH paper (to measure alkalinity and acidity), scissors, test tube, plastic bottles, ruler, funnel, pyrex, flask, tubes, maskin tapes, scotch tapes, etc. you name it she's got everything. She brought with her the essential necessary equipment and tools to have this experiment done with the purpose of only her and the girls knew plus the university.

Memoirs Of Friendship - Chapter 18

When Jenny's Mom Anna noticed the too many people crowded around them, she asked the names of the three ladies and then looked at Arnel , with a serious tone in her voice said, "I hope my daughter found the perfect man in you."

Arnel blushed and felt uneasy. His pale skin just turned red as a beet. Joan giggled she thought his nose was a bit red like a cherry tomato.

Joan whispered to Jeaneth and Janice that Jenny's mother is somewhat bitchy.

"Is she?"" I don't think so," quipped Janice. "I think she's just frustrated that her daughter married so early."

Every mother is cautious about their daughter's own welfare for the mere fact that she as a mother is a divorcee she knew what it feels like and she doesn't want her daughter to end up like her. Divorce can upset every members of the family. Most of all it triggers psychological, emotional and sociological problem in a child. That's a known fact.

Was Gardo affected too with the divorce of her mother from her father? Later they found out that Gardo was actually a seminarian and on one week holiday.

The whole cast enjoyed a hearty meal of Brazilian food. Jenny's mother, a socialite poured glasses of vodka, and tequila for those who would rather take a strong shot of liquour. Anna's friends were there from the fashion magazine that she worked for. Most of them are happy and ... gays. But they are fun to be with just as what the girls expected. Lots of dancing inside their house and dancing outside is more prominent. The loud noisy sounds of the colorful carnival parade can be heard and seen from their own balcony.

Jeaneth, Janice and Joan sipping their champagne and keep coming back and forth at the main dining table to taste some of the paella, chorizzos and feijoada.

Janice: Oh these food are delicious. Exotic food are a joy to savour.
Jeaneth: Sure this food, especially this beef jerky (charque) is amazing! Delicious! Barzilian beef is the best you know that's why I like hereford.
Joan: (laughing and tipsy already) couldn't help but told everyone that Jeaneth is so childish . "Would you like toothpick to go with it?"

Hilarious as it may sound but the entire crew were enjoying the time of their life.

Memoirs Of Friendship - Chapter 17

"Oh my God! Gardo! Gardo is that you my brother?" Jenny in all excitement yelling, shouting and eyes widened as usual, looking for her Mom from the crowd.

"Where's Mom?" She asked without hesitation.

Gardo has that beaming cheerful face couldn't hear what she was saying, managed to approach them out from the noisy crowd, hugged her sister and embraced his cute niece. "Oh this is my precious niece."

Jenny introduced Arnel, Joan, Janice and Jeaneth to Gardo.

"Welcome to Brazil," as he looked at Jenny's husband and friends. "I hope you'll enjoy your stay in here."" Jenny, Mom is at home waiting for us.... all of us," he added.

Gardo ushered them to his red color van at the parking area. It was a Ford Minivan. 7 passengers and of course would fit all of them plus their baggages, suit cases and back packs. Good that Jenny brought the baby's carrier that can comfortably snuggled on the van's seat for safety.

Gardo: Okay guys buckle up good. Don't mind the traffic. Traffic congestion is a problem here in the city but the long travel is just as common in a big city. Everyday here is busy. Heavy traffic from dusk to dawn.

Jenny: (Sigh) That's why I preferred to live where I would like to raise my child.
Gardo: Ha! Let say Canada is a better place because of the population is low, clean air, rich country but it's livelier here. Brazilians are happier I think.

Jenny: I don't know. I'm not sure. I have to find out.

The girls just nod. They cannot butt in and compare just yet. Being out of Canada for the first time is hard to compare their country from another country without any basis.

Frequent stops on the highway to Jen's mom house is such a pain for the group. It was hot and sunny! They are not used to that kind of hot climate wherein they are perspiring too much even if the van has air conditioning unit to sustain extra cooler air. Jenny's baby cried almost hysterically.

It should only take one hour travel from the airport to home but it took them more than an hour because of traffic jam at the main highway.

Just as soon as they got out from the van, Jenny's Mom rushed out from the house and greeted them with a warm welcome and enthusiastically hugged and kissed Jenny and her baby. It was a sight of total bliss, pure happiness. Crying, laughing and all the dramatic moments you think you can only see in the highly acclaimed movies. Screaming feat that never seems to stop. Joan, Jeaneth and Janice once in a while stared at each other and copied their dramatic sequences and matched the screaming feat between mother and daughter who were reunited after 15 years!

Memoirs Of Friendship - Chapter 16

Joan had a lot of field trip experience and experiment. She had one final thesis that she needs to pass before she graduate. It would be outside the country. A problem for her because she needs company to go there > in Brazil. She thought she can seek the advice of Janice, Jenny and Jeaneth to go with her. Or she can choose other countries in South America. Since Jenny's mother lives in Brazil then its favorable for her to go there with her who knows the country very well instead of treading remote areas. It was her professor who had chosen or recommended South America to her. She can't say no. Her grades, a higher mark that she wants to achieve. Just that thesis if she pass it then there's no need for her to attend other subjects. That's how important that thesis is for the class and for the university.

Joan feels unhappy. Getting out of the country especially for a month long and staying in another place totally unrelated to her is a big problem for her. She's not used to it. She's not used to being away from her own family. Besides it would mean a lot of spending, expenditures for that travel, board and lodging, air fare, food allowance, etc. Well, it would require lots of money alright. Can her parents afford expenses like that?

Joan's father Mr. Richter is an architect right? He can afford such expenses epecially for her favorite daughter and for her graduate studies. He always want the best for his daughter besides Joan is smart and he knew she wont fail. He would be happy to lend her travel expenses for that project of hers.

Joan phoned her friends right away about her decision and after consulting with her caring parents. It's time for Joan to seek opportunity somewhere aside from being stagnant in one place. She needs to learn, explore other venues, and other possibilities. With that special thesis that surely is a gateway to better opportunities.

Joan phoned Janice first who is very excited. She is willing to accompany her. She wants to get out of the country and besides she's done with her thesis and has already passed. This is her grand vacation to boot. Now it's Jenny's turn. At first Jenny was reluctant. She is very busy with work and studying plus looking after her child. Arnel was employed in the Army but probably would be able to accompany them for one week not one month. Then they waited for answers from Jeaneth who is having her practicum in the Children's Hospital. Only that and they will soon expect a long trip to Brazil.

After 3 days Jenny phoned Joan that she had a change of heart and then finally , she told her she and her family would love to go with her. Joan was happy as you can hear her screaming and jumping. Then later in the afternoon, Jeaneth phoned and was excitedly screaming too in announcing that she is able and willing to join the whole group. It's the first time for the four ladies to get out of Canada. You can feel how joyous and excited and jubilant all of them for this one of a kind holiday and research study for Joan.

They had their passports and Visa and other pertinent documents ready within limited time. Boarded Air Canada flight from Vancouver to Sao Paulo. The long flight kept them awake. Except Jenny's baby who slept through the night or wake up from time to time to have her milk. The girls kept themselves busy reading newspapers, magazines, pocketbooks. Later they watched DVD, 3 movies in succession. Once in a while they were napping but shorter than 10 minutes or twenty minutes because of mild turbulence or air pockets along the clouds.

Finally, Air Canada landed at Rio de Janeiro International Airport. The girls were happy to see too many strange but happy, lively faces. Loud noises from passengers and expats who are non- stop talking in their language: Spanish, portuguese and other languages that they cannot comprehend and understand. Almost like pandemonium in the airport. Hundreds, thousands of people. The noise is suffocating.

Suddenly out of nowhere, from the crowd of people waiting for the arrivals somebody shouted, "Ola Jenny!!"

Note: Thanks to Vegan International Festival for the beautiful stunning picture of Rio de Janeiro's picturesque view

Memoirs Of Friendship - Chapter 15

It was Jenny who seemed to have matured so much. I think because she was raised by a single Dad (parent). The separation from her Mother at an early age made her stronger and independent unlike Joan, Janice and Jeaneth.

After that Comoxial visit the 3 girls went back to the AppleGate and resumed their normal life.

Several years passed by Janice had a visit with Joan who finally made up her mind in choosing the best course for her. Instead of having Bachelor of Science in Biology she opted to take Environmental Science and Meteorology > degree in Turner University. She's hoping to be the next Tamara Taggart on TV broadcasting about the weather.

Janice was happy to see her at the University. A newly built institution close to the sports arena. Joan was sitting on one of the benches under the cherry tree with vibrant fuschia and white blossoms that seems to be the main attraction at that point of time. It is almost compared to Washington DC monument park except...that there is no phallic symbol on the ground. The absence of obelisk in other words. We can have a statue in it instead. Joan laughed at the idea.

Joan was happy to have seen Janice. What more she was ecstatic that Janice will move back to the community where she was born and would like to graduate in Turner University instead just like Joan.

Janice could only be thankful that there are affluent and wealthy people who have contributed and granted donations to have this one of a kind University for the gifted and for the "special programs and project." To them spreading knowledge as the ways and means to empower judgment and wisdom that every individual deserved in this lifetime. That no one is rejected unless of course she or he would like rejections.

The two girls or ladies had a long conversation once again. Janice found out that Jenny got married.

Janice: What?! Really? How come I was not informed? Why she didn't invite me?
Joan: It was a hush-hush wedding! it was all of a sudden. I myself was surprised. I think Jenny was already pregnant that's why.
Janice: Oh ?!!! And who is the guy? I mean whom did she married?
Joan: Who else? It was Arnel!
Janice: Oh my God! It's soooo0 unbelievable!! (chuckled hysterically) Are you kidding me?
Joan: No I'm not!

Their conversation has gotten more interesting by the hour. Being with friends, good friends really has no bounds. No time can stop them from being chatty or gabby for words. they can go and on until some passers by watched them with curious eyes. There was a time that those two girls could'nt help hugging and hold hands. So they sometimes quipped and hollored them, "We're not gays!" Then laughed again just like school girls do.

Memoirs Of Friendship - Chapter 14

The girls stayed for the night at the Wallberg's and used the jacuzzi at the patio. They wore the bathing suits they bought from the VS. For them the swimming suits fit them well. They also like the La Senza brand. As usual Joan thought the words have special meaning.

The next morning, Janice asked the girls to go with them at his Dad's office at the base. Col. Wallberg was surprised of their sudden visit.

Mr. Wallberg: Goodness! Don't you know how to phone Janice?
Janice: Dad, I first thought our visit here would bring a smile on your face. Besides, we're curious to see what's happening at your new office.

Col. Wallberg's eyes rolled in disbelief but still showed friendly facial expression because the girls were there with her daughter. He told the girls to sit down for a while and then left them. When he came back he had another military officer with him. It was their CO and Col. Wallberg introduced his daughter, Joan, Jenny, and Jeaneth to their Commanding Officer. While they were walking around the camp ground there was a platoon of soldiers in a military formation. Those who were caught by their platoon leader not paying attention are then punished with 40 push ups.

The ladies giggled, they thought it was funny. Janice told them to stop their girly behavior and act maturedly.

Col. Wallberg: That's what am saying...
Janice: What do you mean Dad? (The four girls looked at each other)
Col. Wallberg: Sometimes, women can be the cause of destruction.

Jenny butted in and said, "It's not true sir." "You are wrong! Absolutely!"
Col. Wallberg can only shake his head and mumbled, "I hope I'm wrong."

Janice quickly cut the conversation and said, "Okay Dad see 'ya later. My friends would like to have lunch soon and Jenny needs to go home early to catch up with her work tonight."

Col Wallberg: Oh you're a working student? Where you work?
Jenny: Yes sir. I work part time at QF.

Memoirs Of friendship - Chapter 13

It was Janice's birthday. Her 25th birthday! She invited her best friends: Joan, Jeaneth and Jenny at their home in Comoxial. Only them were invited to celebrate her birthday. Simple but a happy one because it is just a reunion for them anyways.

After the party the girls went shopping at the mall. Sure does their mall is bigger than the ones in AppleGate.

Jenny: Oh my God! I just couldn't believe we're all be together and this time we're shopping again.
Jeaneth: I know. Look at us now, we're not girls anymore. We're getting old just like everybody else. (Laughter followed).
Janice: I'm still young at 25! If you feel old then you'll feel old.
Joan: Hmmm...meow! hahahahha!

The ladies visit the Victoria's Secret boutique shop. Everything there is awesomely fantastic. every clothing and lingeries are exquisitely elegant. But shocking! The price of the items are shocking too.

Jenny: Know what girls? The underwears I bought from this shop can last up to ten years. Durability in stitches and the quality is superb.
Janice: Wow! Are you getting to be a saleswoman or something?
Jenny: Not really! I'm just telling the truth.
Joan: I preferred hanes or Fruit of the Loom but if you're the one selling it to us I might buy a dozen pairs of lingeries, under wears and bathing suit (Smiling at what she said)

The girls bought those gorgeous brassieres made of lace and some satin and silk chemisse and the latest swimming suits available in the shop.

The sales clerk was happy to serve the four gorgeous ladies with their shopping needs. She thanked and asked the ladies its their pleasure to serve them and they are always welcome there. The sales clerk also gave them the catalogue just in case they want to order through their phone line.

After the impulse shopping spree they went to see the movie "Changeling" of Angelina Jolie. The girls were an avid fan of Angelina. They think she is an amazing actress and should have won the award instead. Joan thought she's better when the movie is in action not drama.

They found the movie a bit disturbing. A sensitive movie when you can no longer believe in some people especially the authority and bureaucracy. Compelling scenes of drama and suspense.

Memoirs Of Friendship - Chapter 12

KNOWING Janice's parents are both professional and are employed in the government it is easy for them to secure a loan at the nearest bank in town. However they have a house of their own that they can sell and once it's sold then they can purchase a house right immediately.

The Wallberg's family asked the help and expertise of Mr. Hansend the realtor to make the process smoothly without any hindrance. In a matter of two months their house was sold for the price of $350,000. The house in Comoxial is only $250,000 which is a great deal!!! The family had extra $100,000 to cover the cost of new appliances and new furniture if they want but they decided its best to have them as savings and for Janice's college tuition fee once the scholarship grant expires.

Right away the Wallberg family gathered all their belongings, important documents and pertinent paraphernalia, and antique furniture. Some of the appliances stayed with the house that was sold recently.

The moving process is quick and fast that they almost forgot to invite the neighbors for last supper.

Although when they're heading for the road, the girls Jeaneth, Joan, and Jenny managed to come out from their house and said goodbye to Janice one last time. They were all sad and crying. Janice assured them she'll come back and visit them someday.

The three long hour driving is once again exhausting for Janice and her sibling. That they took a nap while her Mom keep on chatting with her Dad driving their van. Then the movers moved on as quickly as possible to their destination.

Years had passed. Janice was in her graduate studies. She had chosen B.S. Physics which the girls knew first hand she would take it anyway. While Joan had her major of study in B.S. Biology. Jeaneth in B.S. in Medicine with specialty in Dermatology. Jenny's major of study in Accounting. She is a working student. According to Joan Jenny would rather work for the IRS when the right time comes.

Memoirs Of Friendship - Chapter 11

Janice talked to her parents if they could bargain. She liked the house so much even if the appliances doesn't match her taste. In her thought her family could buy new appliances when the right budget comes. Mr. & Mrs. Wallberg's decision is to sell the house they have at the AppleGate instead. Once its sold then they can afford to buy that house in Comoxial.

Plan A to sell the house first before committing to Plan B. This plan was told to Mr. Hansend the realtor or agent. Although they have money in the bank in the form of savings account still is they have to choose the "first priority first." This plan made Janice thinks twice. She thought they can move as soon as possible.

Mrs Wallberg: Yes we can move ASAP but money is hard to come by these days. Your Dad and I are getting old and we want to invest on something that we can be proud of and would help all of us in the end.

With the present economic situation, investing on something that we don't know or unsure of we'll lead us to nowhere. But hey, investing on houses especially the house that you will live in for the rest of your life is more than an investment instead of renting and renting a house which you wont own. See the difference? A shelter and or a house is an investment more than what you are investing in Wall Street. Some people cannot figure that out.

While others have different investments in the form of children. They send their children to school and or to university that somehow when they graduated, have the diploma and the job they could at least help their parents. That's the kind of dream every parents are hoping for. But if they're kids went to college and then after graduating and have the employment they deserved then end up marrying...then hopes and dream are gone. Janice thought that's the asian way of absorbing knowledge and investing the odd way. The westerners have different view and opinion. Some of the families she knew when their kids turned 18 they are on their way finding work and finding a place of their own. They surely don't recognize their own parents well maybe the some of these parents don't even care or it's the fault of the kids who would rather not be reprimanded or maturity had taken a toll of its own and they want their parents out of their business at that age. When discipline for them has a different meaning being implemented and brainwashed by the people they encountered almost everyday.

In Janice case she is over 18 years of age at this point in time and still living with her parents. To her there is nothing wrong staying at her parent's house. She's always been a good kid ever since. She's mean outside when provoke and she used her judgment to tackle the problem. She got this wisdom from her father who is a disciplinarian and because he is a military guy.

Now back to the present situation. They have to sell their house first. What if they don't have a house and they are renting a house what could be the consequences? There are two problems the borrower may expect.

1. Credibility
2. Bank has no sufficient fund

1. CREDIBILITY. What I found out here even if you have enough money STILL is the realtor wants to know if you have credit cards. For what? You have money to buy a house why you want to know and why there is need to have credit cards when CREDIT is a debt and its not guaranteed anything? Let's assume it is a guarantor or a guarantee that if you cannot pay your mortgages it can pay for the transaction. Without credit card you cannot also buy a car. Unless you bought a used car. WEIRD right? Who owns the credit card? The Bank?? Who owns the bank?

Although Janice's main course of study is PHYSICS, somehow economics and banking and its system bothers her. In her thought the banking system has too many flaws.

On Credibility again. Why not the bank get the comprehensive resume of the applicants and then see for themselves whether what is filled up in the resume is true or correct and then they can check the references, etc., etc. If both parents are working or even one is working and has the capacity to pay mortgages. If they can pay monthly rent religiously they can afford a house and pay the same amount.

2. BANK HAS NO SUFFICIENT FUND. Why it takes too long for the bank to lend money to borrowers? If credibility is not the problem?

a. Big corporations or institutions who owed the bank in billions and millions of dollars went bankrupt. This trigger the bank not to lend any money because those big corporations cannot pay what they owed.

b. Unemployment
c. Economic Recession
d. Bank allows loan but within limited fund
e.Bank doesn't have much depositors; only on time deposit and chequing deposit. This situation is when the borrower lives in a very small community.

What happened to those empty big houses that were in the market for too many years without any buyers? The realtors are advertising them to those who can afford but up to what time and year? When those houses are already rotten and damage? That is not my problem. They can have them as shelters for birds , rats and termites.

There are too many greedy people in this world that gluttony seems to be the biggest factor in human history and that which the cause of war and rumors of war!

Memoirs Of Friendship - Chapter 10

Appointment time at 2:00 pm. The realtor introduced himself as Mr. Hansend. He first showed them a 3 bedroom house located close to the school. The house has small tool house outside in the yard. The house has a newly built or installed fence made of cedar wood. The parkway garage is overwhelming with cherry trees. How lovely! The fuschia pink colored cherries is such an attraction. The yard is covered with healthy bermuda grass. Then there are two birch trees at the front lawn.

As soon as Janice family enetered the house, she noticed the foyer is way too small for them to get in. Thinking they were too heavy or too fat? The flooring is of laminated wood, darker brown or more like burgundy in color. It was well polished. Shiny and clean. Wow! The house looks nice outside and clean inside. Looks like the owner cleaned it first meticulously before they left so as to show the place to would be buyers. The house has new appliances. Modern appliances not old. Their stove oven is the latest model and the oven has self-cleaning feature. Their washer and dryer is Maytag. Good brand name. The kitchen is nice and clean but it's too small. Too small for their dining room. Their dining room has eight arrowback chairs and their table measures 5 feet long (5 ft x 3ft). Then they looked at the living room. The owner has a good set of sofa and love chair but what 's really the attraction is their wide screen TV. Oh my God is bigger than their wall. No. That's an exaggeration. Actually the TV is 52" and it's really the main attraction in their sala. Janice likes the television especially if its HD and its bigger than the sofa.

The house has 3 bedrooms quite too small for their beds. Cozy rooms and their bathroom is only one. Janice family thought their stuff, appliances and furniture wont fit in in that cute but little house on the block.

Mr. Hansend showed another house near the sportsplex area. It has 3 bedrooms, one extra room and a family room. It has a light brown color laminated wood flooring. The house is empty that it's easy to see, figure and estimate whether the furniture will fit in to that house. Sure does this house is bigger than normal. The house design plan is quite perfect. Although it would need certain renovation: painting and changing some cabinets and cupboards plus the need to change the toilet bowl.

As they were ushered by the realtor inside next to the extra room, they found out that the appliances are already old and there's a washer but no dryer machine.

Memoirs Of Friendship - Chapter 9

Nobody seemed to grasp what Joan Richter has posted on the blackboard. That Mrs. Dumpling once again asked the students in the Special Units to respond to her question. In a loud voice she questioned the whole class if Joan's answer is correct or not.

Joan is back at her seat, looking at the blackboard and tried to figure out what she did.

C.P.A. Ex. 3+(4+5)=12 then (3+4)+5 =12

Assoc.P.A. Ex. 1+4=4+1 In Multiplication : 4X5=5X4

"Ay baliktad!" One of the Filipino student blurted out.

"I think Joan is correct Mrs. Dumpling!" GOD SAVE THE QUEEN! Janice was heard telling the "reverse" mode is simply just a hint.

As usual the rumors about the "equation" can no longer be halt to a stop. It even reached the Faculty Department of the school.

One of the teachers at the Faculty couldn't help but uttered in disbelief, "Like Mother like daughter."

As soon as she mentioned it to the whole department everyone's on fire!

Years passed by and the four girls were overjoyed to be in one of the prestigious university in downtown Victoria. It was a new environment for the four smart girls whose got nothing to do but study and research. Four of them were granted scholarship so that they can achieve their Master's Degree.

Summertime:

Janice's family has to move from the subdivision they were residing for so many years. Her parents would rather live close to where their job is located. Janice father who just arrived from tour of duty in Afghanistan would rather seek a better greener pasture closer to the camp near the airport.

When Jenny, Jeaneth, and Joan heard about it they were saddened by the news.

Joan: How com? AppleGate subdivision is the best place for us.
Jenny: Why Janice? There's nothing wrong with the houses here.
Janice: Girls maybe it's the best for us to move on. Besides, we're not young anymore. We're not school girls, we are in the university already. I can see you there if I want to and vice versa.
You have my email address, you have my phone number and cellphone number so there's really nothing to panic about.
Joan: But still is, seeing each other everyday matters to each one of us.
Janice: Oh crap! Cut it out! I hate drama.

The girls were crying like crazy after wards.

Janice and her parents started looking and finding choices of better homes in the Home Finder and classified ads, from Royal Le Page to Realty World. Finally they found a 3 bedroom house. A rancher with 2 bathroom, a family room and a patio. It also has an extra feature: jacuzzi whirlpool with the best view ever! The Wallberg family was excited to see the place. They made an appointment to view their prospect.

We might have an early SPRING. Sorry no snow for us in my town. Besides who want snow all the time in this country?

I read an old book about some educators telling their readers that the people in the North has no idea about their geography. How about you? Do you have any idea where you at right now?

Who would have thought that the earth is just flat? Only the Flat Society knows. While those who are in the Circle until now keeps the merry go round to themselves.

If the SUN showers your country with too much light then you'll see that the ice is melting. and probably would know that part of your land belongs to China. That Nevada and Utah once belong to the Israelites. Then you travel one more time and Black Creek is actually part of Crete. Too much evolutions going on through the ages.

The only thing that doesn't change is few of the people's mind that are corrupted in such a way that can benefit their cause. The first cause of the thing called uncause(D)

MEMOIRS OF FRIENDSHIP - Chapter 8

The four studious girls had just finished their 3rd year course of study and has elevated to 4th Year in High School. Special subjects were added.

English 4 - is about Technical Writing
Math 4 - is about Calculus
Science 4 - Physics
Social Studies - World History
P.E. - Recreational PE in the form of games such as : Chess, Scrabble, Tennis, Backgammon
Economics 4- Introduction to Economics

There's no conflict whatsoever until the rest of the 15 students met a new teacher in mathematics.
The teacher who hailed from a private school in England was a little bit obnoxious and with a smile like they are unable to interpret. You know the smirk on her face is prominent.

Calculus is way too different from the way she taught the class. She > Mrs. Dumpling was a famous Mathematician in her country of origin. Instead of teaching them the technique she wants the students to learn the hard way and finding their own ways to tackle every Math problem at hand.

"What kind of teacher is she?" Arnel was heard whispering to Leopold.

Even Joan was heard mumbling incoherently. Is not that she hates Math but numbers have a special meaning for her. Each number has a corresponding symbols and interpretations. For her there are sets of real numbers and imaginary numbers. There are complex numbers and prime and integral numbers. There are perfect and non-perfect numbers. Each number is divisible and can be multiplied by five.

Mrs. Dumpling heard what Joan was mumbling about. The girls could only uttered in disgust. The new teacher stared at them one by one, scowling with bigotry. Then called each one of them to do the board work. They were asked to pin point the rational, integers, natural and irrational numbers on the group of numbers that Mrs. Dumpling has presented in the class.

When its time for Joan to answer some of the numbers displayed on the board, the clever teacher erased whatever is written on the board. She threw the piece of chalk on the floor and told her to do the board work. She asked Joan to show the class an example of Commutative property of Addition and multiplication and associative property of addition.

The poor Joan trembling in fright because Miss Dumpling's rude unruly behaviour and sharp eyes almost piercing through her soul. She is very weird! That what she thought. The whole class knew that Miss Dumpling is bizarre. So bizarre that nobody wants to mess up with her.

Joan tried to retrieve the piece of chalk on the floor that was separated in half.

"Oh no!" the whole class thought it was a bad idea that Joan picked up the broken chalk on the floor.

In front of the black board, Joan started writing and posting the symbols intended for the "property" being asked of her by Miss Dumpling.

Commutative Property Of Addition:
Ex. 3+(4+5) =12

(3+4)+5 =12

Associative Property Of Addition & Multiplication:

Ex. 1+4 = 4+1

4X5 =5X4

"Look at the board class. Can you tell the difference? Do you think Joan is correct?" Miss Dumpling looked at Joan and didn't say a word . After few seconds she asked the class > "Who wants to help her?"

Believe It Or Not

You wont believe this...but you might as well. I was on Chapter 7 of my short novel which I posted the other day and Chapter 8 I will soon post in my net novela blogspot and here I am wanting to post of my latest short literary works about BOOK CHAT. Too many idea came rushing through my mind lately.

I want to name it as MEREDITH's BOOK CHAT. I like the name. So be it. It was last night that I have it started in my notebook. Yes that's where my rough draft is and I'm on page 7.

I received a call from my sister last night and we talked about the "stories" I was writing and she suggested some things and advice me to have it publish. I said it was published here in the net. She seemed a bit surprised. She asked me what if someone copied the story. Yeah what IF? You know those question and more other valid questions.

You think someone will copy my literary works here even I have my NAME on it as the AUTHOR? Shame on them right?

Maybe they can copy and publish it to themselves and have them assumed they are the writers or they can steal whatever that belongs to me BUT I CAN HAUNT and HUNT THEM DOWN TO THEIR GRAVES! That could be one of a kind crusade!!

What do you think?

At present, I'm not working somewhere else and writing is my job and if somebody will steal whatever I'm writing here is really unforgiven.
