The majestic view of the forest, the waterfalls, the colorful exotic creatures never seen before by their naked eyes were captured by the video camera and handheld digital cameras. Joan had so much fun recording, video taping the area. Thousands of pictures! That's gross! Or tons to name all those creatures would take time and space. From the native plants, animals, and insects. Careful observations were recorded and classified accordingly. The girls especially Jeaneth helped her with the classification process. That's her job. She had some test done on particular unusual plant named as carnauba palm tree. She's into dermatology and the texture of that exotic plant caught her attention. Carnauba palm has special kind of leaves. These leaves are always fresh and shiny as if there is thin film of wax in it. The smooth texture of this leaves > waxy film , according to the book is being used today in the manufacturing of wax, lipstick, lipshiner, floor wax, candle. She thought there could be another subtance in it that could be used for the negatives, cellophane, and most importantly for medicinal purpose. That they can extract a subtance from it to be used as topical solution in the form of cream and ointment. Maybe she can discover a new cortisone cream she told the girls.
As Jeaneth moved on to the next phase, she had seen so much weeds: horseweed, jimsonweed which she tried to avoid. Then pink lady's slippers are common, lots of fern, hepatica and violets. There are small to giant yuca roots, cassava roots where they used the roots for tapioca.
Janice had seen several insects from spider to soldier ants and armadillo. Armadillo? They never expect to see one so they grabbed their camera and captured a nice shot almost great for a front cover of a magazine. They exclaimed cheerfully wonderin' and wandering more through the depths of the woods.
What else they could find and discover surely would be enough for their research. However they expect some more strange unusual happenings..... unexpectedly.
