The news about the bully group has reached the girls and they to had their share of comments.
Jeaneth: I'm glad I didn't bring my Mom and Dad here at school. I mean they didn't come with me for the enrollment. Besides I can do it on my own.
Joan: So what? My God! I don't think there is something wrong with parents taking kids to school especially if they are only 12 years old.
Jenny: I know. There's nothing wrong with parents taking or picking us up from school especially if the weather is not nice or they live too far away from the school. You know..
Janice: That's true.
The first day of the school was just a briefing. Meeting of teachers and students in a classroom. The girls were assigned in a block section. The four girls graduated in Elementary School with top honors that they were ushered to Section 1. Their First Year Adviser introduced herself as Miss Kraft. Miss Cindy Kraft.
Miss Kraft is already 40 years old and still single. From what the girls heard she would rather be a bachelorette for the rest of her life instead of having a family of her own. Teaching is time consuming and she's married to her priority and principle. Also because she is perfectionist.
Her personality terrified the girls and the whole class. Who wont be? If she is into perfection then that would only mean she is very strict and orthodox who followed guidelines by the numbers.
By the numbers! Joan hate numbers although she is the best and the brightest in class of 50 students. According to her opinion being led by strict disciplinarian means not only living by the numbers but compared to marching at the grandstand with stiff neck in a stiff body walking back and forth as a guard.
The three girls giggled like crazy.
"Psssst! Shut up girls." One guy yelled at them.
The four girls glanced at their back only to be surprised that the rough voice belongs to the guy who stepped on Jenny's foot.
In synchronized tone, "Oh no!" the girl exclaimed. Even the guy was shocked and felt awkward.
"What the f----!" as he uttered in dismay. He raised his hand and called the attention of their teacher.
"Miss Kraft is it okay if you can replace me. I mean can I move to another section...to section 2 instead." The boy asked.
Miss Kraft: Why? Is there something wrong Mr. Sacramento?
The whole class laughed. Janice giggled a bit but cover her mouth with her handkerchief. Jeaneth, Jenny and Joan laughed as mightily as the whole class. If everyone's laughing join them. Go figure.
Miss Kraft gave them a stern look in her face and in her serious tone of voice she told the whole class that there is nothing funny about what she said.
"I don't know what you guys are laughing about. Do you want me to give the whole class the first quizz instead?"
One student raised his hand and told her that she hasn't given them the lesson yet.
Miss Kraft: That's why I want to know your class standing whether you're all ready for Middle School. Just a review of what you've learned from Grade School. In this way I would know who's going to Section 2 or who should remained at Section 1.
The class cannot argue no more. They were quiet all of a sudden.
After the short test the whole class was apprehensive about the result. Group of male students were kindof mad about the sudden abrupt situation. But Miss Kraft told them she will announce the result sometime the next day. She dismissed the class as soon as the bell rings.
On the way to the girls locker room they heard a loud commotion at the boy's room. It turned out group of older kids cornered their classmate and was about close to being mauled. Through the girls loud voices of non-violent confrontation with the bullies their act was halt to a stop.
The boy turned out to be Sacramento. He introduced himself to the girls as Arnel Sacramento. The girls shake hands with him. Arnel was thankful for their arrival for if he was not rescued he would have suffered bruises all over his body.
"Do we have to report this to our adviser or to the principal?" Joan asked Arnel.
Arnel replied there's no need. He seemed to be fine and there's no need to report the incident. Although shaken but not stirred he felt being protected by four courageous girls who would fight back against bullying.
