Nineteen - The Conflict Of Interest

Thirty five minutes later... Along the highway, we passed by two brawny guys with their thumbs up. They were hitch hiking. What the hell! They were hitch hiking beside a big sign that says "NO HITCH- HIKING ALLOWED."

"So why are they hitch hiking there when it's not allowed?" Claire asked innocently.

" You know why?" Mateelda asked her.

" I don't know why." Claire replied.

"Because they cannot read the sign that's why." I answered instead of Mateelda.

We all laughed and giggled non-stop. Then we turned on the stereo and played Rihanna's song "Disturbia."

I grabbed my cellphone and phoned Mr. Loren to find out if he's done with the pressure washing.

Vivianne: Hello Mr. Loren. Good morning!
Mr. Loren: Good morning!
Vivianne: How's everything there? Are you done with the work there at the tavern?
Mr. Lorne: We're finished with the pressure washing and we started painting the exterior part of the house and tavern yesterday. It's good and clean as a whistle by the time you arrived home. Okay?
Vivianne: Wow! Thank you. Bye.

Okay. Everything's doing fine so where is the best place we can go at this point of time? We have two more days to follow through. The girls have the map uncovered from the back of the seat.

Katy suggested we can drop by at the lake. Too many beautiful lake in the interior part of British Columbia. We have canoes and a raft so we might as well use them.

Our group stopped by at the Bowron Lake for a while but then we settled to see the Williams Lake instead. Right there at the lake we saw an old man in loin cloth at the shore. He went swimming and fishing. He glanced at our group and smiled. He didn't say anything. Just the smile is good enough? Hmm....mysterious huh.

The boys pulled out their canoes from the compartment. Their fishing rods and gears ready for their fishing expedition. The girls have the BBQ grill ready for barbecue. It's getting hot and a bit windy at the shore. The weather and the scenery is stunning. Video and picture taking while we're having fun under the sun. Mateelda spread her blanket on the sandy shore for her sunbathing or suntanning ritual.

It was 2:30 pm when the guys arrived from their boating and fishing. They caught at least one dozen medium sized and six big trouts. Fortunately! Two guys would rather stay and continued fishing. Mateelda raised her voice and started acting furiously. Her face red from suntanning. She was grouchy all of a sudden.

"You can stay here and we'll go ahead." With her maddening voice of superiority our group moved our stuff back to the winnebago. Mateelda continued to bark at the boys. Later those with coolers head pacify the petty quarrel they had.
