Frazzled over what happened last night waking up is really hard to do. However we have to be alert today. Today is absolutely a "hike day."
After Mateelda and I had our morning shower and breakfast we both hurriedly went to the place of "destination." I was ever ready on this hike to the rolling hills and verdant valley that this small town has. That's what is known for.
Great! Our casual safari clothing is really intended for this stroll. The weather cooperates. Sunny and warm. Mateelda and I have our buri hat. Colorful ones. Lime green in color. I brought my digital camera and capture most of the amazing sceneries they have in this small town. From the hills, to the trees and dainty flowers and weeds on the ground. The uphill-downhill is covered with forget- me- nots and omphalodes verna. They are natural ground cover. The subtle colors of these plants reminds me of "impressionism" painting of a famous painter named Rembrandt. the presence of purple foxgloves are also apparent on this valley.
Surprised, surprised! I found some bouganvilleas in this part of the ground. How could that be? I was baffled about this discovery. I never thought such tropical plant will ever adapt to this kind of environment. Although surprised of what I have discovered I showed it to Mateelda knowing she's more knowledgeable in matters of flora. She had two majors in College: Botany and Marine Biology. While me? I have two major of study: Psychology and Economics. The two of us have a continuous field of work and research. That's our life. The reason why we get along together.
We have seen so much of this town in a small island enough for us to stay and our venture will help us in so many ways.
On the way to the center of trade we met some group of people, mostly older in age. In their senior years. they have some kind of cheery disposition. Friendly and oh, they love to talk. One older guy has motor mouth. I cannot butt in. Interuption only about after he's done talking in 15 minutes. My goodness he is probably an instructor in the old, old school. Mateelda asked if we can be allowed to move on with our plan to see the other parts of the town. You know we only have half of the day and we have to move on to our next plan. The old man understood us gleefully bid goodbye and told us to come back again. He also asked a favor if we could visit him at the Home for the aged.
More walking and driving until we both get tired. The scorching heat of the sun had our back wet from sweat. I should have a fan. Mateelda turned on the air conditioning unit inside our vehicle and drove as fast as she could to the nearest cafeteria. We ordered the same kind of sandwich. Monte Cristo. That's the kind of sandwich this cozy cafeteria is famous for. For softdrinks mateelda preferred coke while I opted for pepsi in can. While we're seated on comfy padded chairs they have my eyes gazed on the many passers by. With the beautiful sunny weather they have here you wont believe how busy it is. Three younger looking ladies in their short shorts walking gently on the sidewalk, giggling like school girls. All three of them carrying shopping bags. What shopping can do to your mood eh? It has a healing mechanism.
Just across the street are the many mini-stalls called bazaar are adorned with colorful bandanas. You know those scarf (singular) scarves (plural). The colorful colors made me want to look at them. After that quick snack Mateelda and I decided to browse that part of the bazaar. After my best friend browsed on too may selections of scarf, she bought seven scarves without batting an eye lash. I couldn't help but smile. She told me she wants to wear one scarf each day for seven days. With a dozen scarves in my closet of 100% silk, nylon-cotton, polyester, wool, batik made I only chosen two scarves from that stall. After paying for the items I wore the scarf that absolutely matched in with my two piece of clothing I am wearing. A poly-cotton mint color blouse and a printed mint color with paisley design long skirt. A three layered skirt.
"Hey, here Vivianne come and look at this." Mateelda's eyes widened upon seeing the many gemstones, beads and hypo-allergenic jewelries in that corner of the bazaar owned by a Greek middle aged lady. Too many to choose from. I myself was attracted on the many colorful gemstones they have on their glass display window. They are absolutely precious gemstones. From purple amethyst, red ruby, garnet, amber, onyx, sapphire, emerald, and ... those jade available in 3 different colors: white, dark green and mint green. The jade hoop earrings are amazing! Right away I bought them. Mateelda likes it too but I was able to get hold of it first. That's mine no one can take it.
Mateelda was feeling a bit upset and she was speechless for the rest of the day.
